The Trump campaign is also facing a new crop of editorials, with the Miami Herald saying its puzzling why Trumps controversy is not getting equal billing to that associated with the Clinton Foundation.
Unlike the faux scandal over the Clinton institution, there were actual victims here people who paid good money to Trump University and feel they were duped. Why is Pam Bondi not investigating that? the Miami Herald editorial board wrote in an item titled, Donald Trumps gift to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi deserves a closer look.
The New York Times also dug in, writing on its opinion page, If Ms. Bondi promised to back off the Trump University suit in exchange for campaign money during that 2013 phone conversation, it could be a crime. As for Mr. Trump, the $2,500 I.R.S. fine is a tiny penalty, unless voters impose consequences of their own.

At the first Republican debate last August, Trump ripped into his primary rivals for taking contributions from him in the past.
I will tell you that our system is broken. I gave to many people, before this, before two months ago, I was a businessman. I give to everybody. When they call, I give. Trump said at the time. And do you know what? When I need something from them two years later, three years later, I call them, they are there for me. - Politico

(47,479 posts)PAGE: And yet a -- yet a big potential scandal involving Donald Trump, and I was glad you asked Chris Christie about it because Im surprised it hasnt gotten more attention, which is that Donald trump, in 2013, his foundation made an illegal $25,000 contribution to a campaign committee associated with the Florida attorney general, who was, at that time, deciding whether to pursue an investigation into Trump University. And this is the kind of thing -- hes now paid a fine, which is -- as The Washington Post has reported. This is -- this should be a major story. And Im perplexed by why it hasnt gotten more attention. I think one reason is, theres so much attention to her scandals and her credibility to make attacks on the -- on the front of honesty and trustworthiness are so low that its harder to get -- for her to generate outrage about this potential scandal involving him.

(21,056 posts)Demand for the story and the reporters pushing will get this to at least some level of similarity to the average voter as the email "scandal". It will never reach that level but even half as reported will make this a huge story that lasts through the election, and possibly further.
I want this thread to be shared and have a 100 posts by tomorrow. The Orlando Sentinel story is really good on this.
