Related: About this forumRick, If You're Against Porn, Don't Watch It
In a TV interview on Sunday, Rick Santorum said that if he is elected President, he will file criminal charges against the distribution of pornography. Santorum specifically referred to exposure on the Internet, so presumably he would censor the Internet.[br /]
The Internet Police. What a concept.[br /]
Santorum complained that President Bush enforced the law (probably alluding to the Child Online Protection Act, passed in 1998), but President Obama has not. Well, theres a reason for that. The US Supreme Court held that the law is unconstitutional, and the Court issued its final ruling in that case on the day after President Obama was sworn into office.[br /]
But let us give credit where credit is due. A Republican candidate for President finally has come up with a jobs program: policing the Internet for porn. All 50 billion pages of it.[br /]
I have a dramatically simpler idea.[br /]
Rick, if youre against pornography, then dont watch it.[br /]
You see how that works? Let me give you some more examples.[br /]
If youre against contraception, dont use it.[br /]
If youre against abortion, dont have one.[br /]
If youre against Moslems, dont become one.[br /]
If youre against gay marriage, dont have one.[br /]
If youre against unions, dont join one.[br /]
If youre against universal health care, just keep your distance from doctors and hospitals. [br /]
If youre against homosexuality, then feel free to limit your sexual interest to the 3 billion human beings of the opposite gender.[br /]
What Im basically trying to say to Rick Santorum, and everyone like Rick Santorum, is this: mind your own business.[br /]
Courage,[br /]
Alan Grayson[br /]
Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you. 1 Thessalonians 4:11 (Paul of Tarsus, quoting Jesus) [br /]

(24,438 posts)They must lead very boring lives when they are not actively working to prohibit all of these kinds of things. I frankly just don't know how they do it. I usually have just enough time on any given day to worry about my life, my family, my pets, etc. I have neither the time nor the inclination to give much (if any) thought to whether or not my next door neighbors are using birth control or what the gay couple down the street is doing in the privacy of their own bedroom. I don't understand people whom apparently have the time, energy, and resources to be professional "busybodies". How DO they do it? I just don't get it.

Seriously, not a porn freak, although I am not pure on partaking. I would just say, to each his or her own.

I almost never agree with him. (Is it actually a dead squirel on his head?)
