Why didn't Lauer ONCE tell Trump: "stop insulting your opponent, we're here to talk about YOU"?

Could he not have reined the guy in even one time?

Couldn't he at least tell Trump to stop saying "Make America Great Again" every 90 freaking seconds?

I've heard Lauer is supposed to be an "R", but even with that, shouldn't he have felt some obligation to stop The Big Wig from making the thing into a network-funded infomercial? Was it asking too much to at least expect the guy to ACT like a journalist once in awhile?
