What???? David Brooks just said Hillary was "ungracious and unpleasant."

I used to respect him as an intelligent conservative, although I didn't agree with him all the time. But I have watched him over the summer reveal himself as an unaware, thorough going sexist!!!

This is just unconscionable!!!!!

Trump was pleasant and gracious??????

Pleasantness and graciousness is appropriate to a commander and chief forum??????

Would appreciate 140 char suggestions for tweets!!!!

... if we are to move beyond gridlock and become a working democracy again, we need to respect one another. Brooks had been one of my go-to Republicans for that hope. I still think bunches of his thought is worth listening to, but his sexism has become more and more clear over the summer. I thought he'd take a step back... but no. Very, very disappointing.

30. He said the things Trump was saying "were just ridiculous"
Sat Sep 10, 2016, 09:28 AM
Sep 2016

His comments on Trump weren't bad:

He was saying things - as E.J. pointed out - which were just ridiculous - the support for Putin, the oil comment, the idea that we should leave back some core of people and take Iraq's oil is moral idiocy. First of all, it wouldn't work. Second of all, it's called imperialism. And it's been done and it didn't work, and it's an outrage. And it sort of goes under the radar because he's just ill-informed about what it would actually take.

It's just that he followed those up with some pretty idiotic statements about Clinton.

This is the sort of interesting analysis I expect of Brooks. What has it got to do with his persistent sexism? He's displayed it over and over this summer, and for a bit I thought he'd gotten the message and was re-thinking. But, no. Just an unreconstructed white male SEXIST!

So much of being a republican is about fear and now because of The Donald they fear defecting from being a republican. Guys like Brooks don't know how far they can wander off the ranch and still come home.

said something about her reacting too negatively to the questions, instead of remaining stonefaced and unaffected by Lauer's inquisitorial manner.

what a crock....she was too emotional? too.....womanlike? is that it?

what a prick

shame on him

the old double standard

do you EVER watch trump's histrionics? has anyone EVER affected a more unpresidential demeanor.....Constantly?

SO pissed about this BS tack the media is currently riding....gotta have something to replace the apparently dormant email ''scandal''

that'll revive as soon as whatever scandal de jour the pub/media complex has thrown against the wall, waiting to unstick

We really used to like listening to him. Unlike others in this thread we (hubby and I, the Brooks watchers) think that the GOP should be perceived as "normal."* Wrong, usually, but "normal." That's the only way for a democracy to work. Obama's been trying to teach us that for 8 years.

He remained OK, but less to my taste after he wrote his book about character and began to get all mushy.

But this summer he began revealing blatant, old fashioned sexism. I won't call it misogyny, because it's that brand that relegates women to the pedestal. My hubby and I wrote reasoned letters. We counted on feedback from his colleagues to awaken his self-awareness. But it's only gotten worse.

This last bit, posted in my OP rates up there with the worst anywhere on MSM. I think it's grounds for NPR to consider replacing him.

*I guess I should qualify that. GOP before it descended to a pre-Nazi crazy organization that supports Donald Trump.

Hillary was "evasive and crass" "angry to be challenged" "imperious" she had "not a lot of humanity" "not a lot of relatability" and Trump, "if anything, was a little worse." A little worse. Later he went on about how fact-checking doesn't work.

I clicked on a video just now that turned out to be a show I don't watch because it makes me too angry but as the topic wasn't political, thought it would be safe. But no. One guy said oh, this topic isn't a big deal, North Korea has nukes and the planet's burning, we probably won't survive, just relax. Another guy smirked, "Hillary might be president, that's worse than all of those things." Well, fuck you. Fuck all of these assholes.
