People Seem to Be Agreeing with Clintons "Deplorables" Comment

Woke up to this news story today and decided to take a lap around the internet to see how people were reacting. Besides a few butt hurt trump supporters, most people seem to agree 100% with Clinton. Go to the comments section of any non-right wing news site and virtually everyone (seriously I'm not cherry picking here) is saying things like:

Not a Hillary fan but yeah, that sounds about right. Maybe a little less than half - I'm an optimist.

Trump has said 50 things worse in national forums. Hillary will catch hell for this but the reality is that Trump has tapped in to the worst instincts of a number or people who have found a leader they think shares their world view. It is just as she describes. We have seen them unearthed and raised up.

Sorry KellyAnne/Donald - you can dish it out but you sure can't take it. Too bad so sad for you.

Keep it up Hillary.

Only half? That seems low... One thing we do know is that 100% of them are morons.

Thank you! Its about time someone tells it like it is. At Trumps rallies they are selling and hanging the confederate flag. Whats on the t shirts they are wearing and selling are horrible. They say racist things and are just deplorable. While the other half stands and sits there listening to these awful people. Besides TRUMP HAS HIRED A WHITE NATIONALIST TO RUN HIS CAMPAIGN. SO WHAT DO YOU EXPECT. Lord help us !!!

Not insult, just pure fact.

So Clinton "insults" Trump voters and she has to apologize, while Trump insulted muslims, Mexicans, Latinos, gays, POW's, women, handicapped, Chinese, Asians in general, (must have missed some) and he gets to double down on his comments? I Somehow get the feeling different standards are used for the 2 presidential candidates.

Hillary Clinton is right. Half of Trump's supporters ARE deplorable. And the other half are far worse.

Hillary's 110% correct on this. High time someone yelled it from the rooftops.

these people need to be shamed back into the closet. What they've been emboldened to do over past yr is deplorable

Trumpites are in the deplorable basket. Racists, ignorant aholes will not get our country

The only people bitching are hard core trump supporters and right wing political pundits.

How can you insult American citizens?! But in the same breath they say things like

Trayvon Martin = a deplorable.

The purge begins in January! Clean these anti-American progressive rats out of DC and then get them out of the colleges and universities.

On the contrary, Hillary is the one supported by the "baskets of deplorables" consisting mostly of LGBT and EBT card holders; she wants to keep them dependent on Govt. handouts forever to ensure they keep voting for slimy Democratic candidates like her! She as well as Bill Clinton had insulted the blacks but they keep voting for these crooks: why? Because the DNC cannot find a decent candidate with ethics, integrity and morals!

Besides Trump, who's entire strategy is to talk and hope the combination of words makes sense, a campaign like Clinton's is filled with people who do nothing but plot out ways to fuck with the opponent. A presidential candidate doesn't just go on stage and start talking. This wasn't a comment that someone overheard her say or meant to never see the light of day, like Romneys 47% comment. It was added to a speech, by people that agonize over every detail of every day of the campaign. Its not a "gaffe" or a "mistake" or "a poor choice of words" it was deliberately said and is likely part of a larger plan.

Clinton and her team aren't just winging it as they go. They almost certainly are up to something. We will just have to see what the next move is.

for diverse supporters and challenging conservatives to examine their positions. And of course the unusual phrase "basket of deplorables" was chosen to be memorable, though appropriate for a woman (women "do" baskets), knowing that it would be quoted again and again out of context.

Her subsequent "regret" statement included the term "deplorable" twice and only "corrected the numbers," i.e., for suggesting a full half were deplorable. Oh, here I go too.

Team Trump has been attempting to 'pivot' and appear less racist in an attempt to attract white moderate swing voters.

Hillary is kicking the hornets nest, to try to force the deplorables into the open, and force the media to focus on it.

And it wasn't the first time she used the phrase, so clearly intentional.

As someone noted below, the phrase is a feminine phrase, evokes the image of a woman walking with a basket of flowers etc.

This phrase IMO is targeted for moderate suburban white women, who are often the swing vote in presidential elections.

Seems like a theme that has been bubbling under the surface for the last week, especially after the Matt Lauer shitstorm, is that the media treats Clinton far more harshly than Trump. Trump can talk about using a foreign government to spy on his political opponents, killing Clinton, and calling most mexicans rapists and murders and the media just says "meh". Clinton can literally cough during a speech and they treat it like breaking news. Same thing here. Trump can attack anyone who isn't a white male and the media shrugs and walks away. Clinton attacks racist elements in Trumps base and "oh that is so mean. SCANDAL! SCANDAL! EVERYONE ITS A SCANDAL!".

We will see how the dems follow up on this one but it is likely part of something bigger.

Look around next time you go to work or out to dinner or shopping. You'll see a lot of people who are planning to vote for Trump, or considering it. They'll be nicely and respectably dressed and groomed--one of the most reliable clues for guessing someone could be conservative before they open their mouths, smiling and chatting pleasantly with each other, attentive parents or grandparents if children are along, and none of them will have their fingers up their noses.
