(108,980 posts)2. Bacterial pneumonia isn't really better than viral.
And what she has probably is walking pneumonia, caused by the mycoplasma germ -- not exactly a bacteria although antibiotics do help with it.
And in my experience the ordinary flu is worse than either walking or viral pneumonia. Though the latter two can drag out for weeks without treatment, they aren't as depilating as the typical flu with a high fever.

My son has had it a few times. All she has to do take her meds and rest. People acting like she has some sort of incurable illness.
