Conservative wet dreams - Hillary too sick to continue. Dems meet to replace her.
The conservative blogsphere is all atwitter with rumors that the DNC is calling emergency meetings to replace Hillary on the ticket. Only, they can't. She can resign, but I figure the chances of that happening are somewhat less than Trump being remembered in the history books and the best President the US ever had - better than Washington, Lincoln, FDR, and Obama rolled into one.

(44,173 posts)Hillary with 50+ unfavorables replaced by a candidate with low negatives (like Kaine) to run against the even more unpopular Trump?
The new candidate would be leading Trump by 20 within a day or two of being nominated. And there wouldn't be enough time to drive up their negatives before the election.
Fools.

(4,033 posts)Getting Hillary out of the race, who would replace her? The Dems don't have anyone else waiting in the wings. They would have to either put in Bernie at this late date, or pull in someone with little name recognition. (Unless they could convince Biden to run, and I don't think that is possible.)
The one concern I have with the Democratic Party in general is they don't seem to have a farm club. There is no one they are 'bringing along'. Trump, Clinton, and Sanders are all 70ish. Where is the next generation?

(11,949 posts)No, we democrats would prefer a Democratic Party candidate. Kaine would do just fine.
Senator of one of the most high profile states in the union. He would be fine.
But all this talk is just right wing BS.

(6,238 posts)Sanders lost. I support Clinton. I'm voting for her, but if she were to drop it then it should go to Sanders considering he was the runner-up in the primaries. However, I agree that there is very little chance of Clinton dropping out.

(11,605 posts)If g-d forbid she really is too sick to continue, which I highly doubt, I will fight like hell for Bernie to be nominated in her place. But I absolutely do not think she needs to drop out "for the good of the country."

(68,586 posts)All the excitement over HIllary's relatively minor illness...I have had walking Pneumonia and even the real deal...in fact I had the pneumonia shot early because of it...no Bernie is not going to be the candidate. It will never happen. It is way too late for any substitute. We would surely lose. And it is not possible. So let's all support our nominee Hillary Clinton by not jumping on the right-wing 'she's to sick bandwagon."

Biden would step in and easily beat Trump.

(21,056 posts)morons kept saying exactly the same thing, she's not going to run anymore and it's over. They seemed so gleeful, even writing how happy they were.... sick f*cks... Anyhow, anyone running against Drumf should easily win. He is a dumdum and unfit and unskilled to be president. I know dumya got in, but he was selected, even though he essentially had a 50/50 vote in FL, but I would hope America learned to stop voting for people who they think would be fun to hang out with, and instead voted for the best and brightest available option!

(11,605 posts)I do think it would be wrong to pass him over for someone who never ran in any primaries or endured the rigor and vetting of the primary season. I also think it would be stupid on the part of the party, as it would be saying FU to over 40% of the primary voters.
But right now I am focused on hoping for Hillary to be okay, both physically and politically. I am not hoping in any way shape or form for her to be replaced. After the events of the past 48 hours, I'm With Her now more than ever.
democrattotheend
(11,605 posts)Get us to refight the primaries by putting out rumors that if Hillary is too sick to continue (which I am sure she's not), the party is considering replacing her with someone who never ran in the primaries and never got a single vote.
In the very remote chance that Hillary for whatever reason cannot finish the race, I will fight like hell for Bernie to be her replacement. But I absolutely refuse to engage in fighting about who should replace her unless and until she actually needs to be replaced, which I think is highly unlikely. I am really frustrated with the BernieOrBust people on Twitter who are reflecting poorly on him by tweeting #BringBernieBack without being so gracious as to even wish her well. One of them added me to their list of BernieOrBust tweeters and I smacked them down pretty hard.
