........................... Although she took momentary heat for it, the Trump campaign responded by unwittingly hanging KKK leader David Duke around its own neck.

.......................However, when the media hit Trump’s running mate Mike Pence with a direct question about whether he considered Duke to be “deplorable,” Pence committed the biggest gaffe of the 2016 election cycle.

CNN reporter Wolf Blitzer asked Mike Pence if he agreed with Clinton’s assertion that David Duke is indeed “deplorable.” Pence seemed to think he was avoiding falling into the trap of agreeing with his opponent by simply saying “I’m not in the name-calling business.” But in reality, Pence was refusing to agree with the sentiment that a Ku Klux Klan leader as deplorable – thus at least partially aligning himself and Trump with Duke’s overt white supremacist views.

This appears to have been precisely the kind of trap which Hillary Clinton was trying to set when she made the “basket of deplorables” remark in the first place. She knew she’d get some blowback, but only from people who had been planning to vote against her anyway. And her comment prompted the media to lay a trap which the Trump campaign walked into voluntarily. And now Hillary has her talking point, having tweeted that “If you won’t say the KKK is deplorable, you have no business running the country.” In other words, Pence tied himself to the KKK and just sunk the Donald Trump campaign.

David Duke: “Good To See” Mike Pence Reject Media’s Game

Louisiana Senate candidate and former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke says he’s pleased that vice presidential nominee Mike Pence declined to call him “deplorable” in an interview on Monday.

“It’s good to see an individual like Pence and others start to reject this absolute controlled media,” Duke told BuzzFeed News. .................................

In an appearance on CNN on Monday, Pence was asked about Duke’s support of his running mate Donald Trump. Pence replied, “We don’t want his support and we don’t want the support of the people who think like him.”

Asked if Duke is “deplorable,” Pence said, “I’m not in the name-calling business.”

The question was asked in the context of Hillary Clinton’s comments over the weekend that “half” of Trump’s supporters are “deplorable.” She has since said she regretted using the term “half.”

Clinton’s campaign quickly responded to Pence’s interview, tweeting from her account, “If you won’t say the KKK is deplorable, you have no business running the country.”

Slow acknowledgment of it is creeping into the sunlight. Violence at T-rump's rallies are slowly being exposed as well. Corporate media and their non-journalists relented attack on HRC's health is backfiring because most Americans don't care, but they do care about T-rump's crooked dealings and his racist ways.

only giving lukewarm denials that they are courting racist support. In fact, Hillary's estimate of 'half' Trump's supporters understates the pervasive racism that the GOP ticket is counting on. The percentage of support for Trump-Pence is likely well over 'Half,' and closer to 'All.'

The Republicans have been at this for a while now. There was Richard Nixon's "Southern Strategy." There was Ronald Reagan's "States' Rights" speech in Neshoba County, Mississippi.

And now there is Trump-Pence, agitating the same demographic.
