Does the media know that we are on to them? Do they care?

By now it's common knowledge that the media wants a horse race and their strategy of hammering Hillary and coddling Trump is apparently working. Do most of them just spout whatever the producers put in front of them? I know it's probably not that simple and there are a few exceptions but it sure seems like they have been given their marching orders.
