On the plus side, the media are currently turning on Trump because he dissed one of their own by turning an editor away. So they've actually taking a "principled" stand by refusing to show pictures of his hotel.

They have a point -- they were going to allow him to use all the cable and network coverage as free, looong commercials for his hotel, and he should have shown them a little less contempt. Whether they deserve it or not.

I only turn on TV news to see what and how it's covering, and not covering, since it is an actor, not for the news itself.

A lot of days I check out the NY Times and WaPo for the number of articles about Clinton and Trump and how they're styled, both in their headlines (often extremely misleading, relentlessly negative for Clinton on average) and the article content itself, NY Times worse but both definitely biased. I've actually come to look more to the editorial pages and letters sections for info that might break our of their bias boxes.

He is opening a terrific new hotel, that he loves Medal of Honor winners, and that the President was born in America. Then he exited stage left as fast as he could. No time for questions...

The event started at 11:04. He came out and talked about his beautiful new hotel and how it was opening on time and under budget. Then he turned it over to a bunch of retired military medal of honor recipients who each praised him one after the other. This went on for about 20 minutes. One after the other, praise, praise, praise.....all the while very network in the world is showing this live to millions of viewers. Finally, some of the networks realized something was up and they were being duped, so they cut away from the event. Then about 2 minutes later, they went back to the event since Trump was at the microphone again. He then gave a 31 second statement that basically said Hillary started the birther movement in 2008 (first lie) and that he ended it (second lie) and that Obama was born in the USA (wow, a true statement!) and that now we have to move onto the important issues and make america great again. Then he promptly left the stage to tour his new hotel and disinvited the press from attending the tour with him. He clearly thinks this is the end of the issue and he won't comment on it ever again.

I don't see how him actually making a sane comment is going to increase AA voter turnout for Democrats over that of what it will already be. I'm guessing this is what the context free ops are about.

What's he going to do? Apologize for being a racist just to continue being a racist. Politically insignificant at this point in time.

They are far and few between. He just likes being able to say he did it. Those stops are just a grand version of "I have a black friend."
