The Real Frightening Part (Trump's Statement)

Donald Trump has been bashing the press mercilessly for nearly a year. He has his followers booing the press at every turn.

This is no longer a joke. The first step in a dictatorship is silencing the press. What Trump did today was nothing less than a disgusting political act that took advantage of a free press. And his followers cheer. This is why Banfield compared his treatment of the press to Saddam.

I hope that the press will finally wake up before it is too late.

1. The thought of anyone cheering this kind of behavior is terrifying.

The cynical assholes that crave more bullshit from trump are dangerous lunatics
that would likely become enforcers of the bastard's will. This is a dangerous situation.

He is rubbing salt in their wounds now. Dump miscalculated big time. There is NOT going to be a day now that they don't let up and press him on this for answers.

3. Most obnoxious part of this, however, was that Trump was introduced by a confirmed birther.

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/muckraker/trump-introduced-by-a-birther-at-event-where-he-walked-back-birtherism

There's this lead:

At the peak of birtherism, you may remember, an Army lieutenant colonel refused to deploy to Afghanistan absent proof that President Obama was born in the United States. The officer, a doctor named Terrence Lakin, was court-martialed, found guilty, jailed, and discharged from the Army.

One of Donald Trump's introducers today at the new Trump Hotel, was a retired Air Force general who supported Lakin. He even submitted an affidavit on his behalf, questioning whether Obama was properly within the chain of command, since his U.S. birth was in question.

So there you have it: Trump brings a birther to his presser purporting to disavow birtherism.

And then there's the article. Usually the article incorporates the lead but not this time.

A birther supporter was among the Donald Trump backers who introduced the nominee at the Friday event where he attempted to walk back his birtherism.

Retired Air Force Lieutenant General Thomas McInerney was one of the military vets who spoke at the Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C.

But back in 2010, McInerney wrote an affidavit that questioned the constitutionality of President Obama's authority, based on the "widespread and legitimate concerns" about his birth records, TPM reported at the time.

McInerney wrote the affidavit in support of Army Lieutenant Colonel Terrence Lakin, who was refusing to deploy to Afghanistan because he did not believe Obama was a legitimate president, citing birtherism.
