wish they would lose the brackets, though. Kind of implies a softening of a true statement to me.

I guess is a way of saying it's not part of the "quote" even though it wasn't a direct quote.

and the number one way we have vetted presidential candidates for more than four decades is TAX RETURNS.

The only way citizens can see if a candidate actually supports our society is to see if s/he pays their fare share of taxes and if s/he contributes to improving the lives of those who need help.

Only ONE candidate in this race has allowed us to vet her contribution to society... for more than 30 years.
