I tend to think it's more likely he's faked his health report. I don't think faking IRS documents would be in his best interest.

well, they can question him about it, sure. any clue (irs forms or otherwise) they legally obtain that includes him claiming that he earns more than he reported, e.g., they can ask him about.

but trump could just say to the irs, hey, the forms i submitted were true, the forms i released publicly were a complete lie. the irs can't do much about it (can't even publicly reveal the lie), unless they can really prove that trump underpaid his taxes.

Using tax forms to lie is a crime I believe.
The IRS could indeed call him on that. They wouldn't have to release anything. Just give him a summons to appear in court.

not a lawyer, but i'm pretty sure using irs forms, even signed forms, to lie in general is not a crime.

if you submit fraudulent tax forms to the irs, then that would be a crime.
if you submit fraudulent tax forms to apply for a loan, then that would be a crime.
if you submit fraudulent tax forms to defraud others in business, then that would be a crime.

but to use them to lie in general, i don't think that's a crime.



in any event, he could just release his 1040, he doesn't have to release event damn attachment.
in theory, that is. of course, he can't release the real ones because it's obvious by now that there's damning information even at that high level, never mind in the weeds.

It's all a sham.

If he gets caught lying about his taxes to the press - its game over for him. Even if there is a whiff of doubt about them - they become his "email scandal." He's better off just taking shit for showing nothing.
