Just curious - a question for the campaign savvy

This never did much matter, but now that it's all over but the RW angst there was something I was wondering. I live on Long Island, NY. There was never any question, of course, that our state was going for Obama. I'm delighted that both our counties did as well, but the NY electoral votes were never in doubt. Throughout the campaign, I saw Obama ads on TV and never, ever, not even once did I see a Romney ad. Any thoughts as to why the one and not the other. It's true that there was one congressional race that a lot of us were worried about and our guy won. Do you think that's why. I kind of don't think so, but even if it was, that would cut both ways as well, right?

1. Same in MA. I don't watch much television but I don't think they spent money here.

. . . in New York. I'm from NY but have been away for 6 years. When I left Nassau was turning blue, having elected a county exec a few years earlier. Good to hear that Suffolk also turned blue. I think the Romney camp knew not to waste their money there. Go Giants! Go Knicks!

We still have Peter King. Nassau has a Republican county executive - but he wasn't up for re-election. Suffolk's legislature is very Republican and from my district I was very sad that we sent Republican Peter Boyle to the state assembly nstead of the excellent Ricardo Montana. However, progressive Congressman Tim Bishop beat Newsday endorsed Randy Altshuler again, and by a much larger margin than last time. That's the one we were nervous about. I guess right now we're bluish purple, but that's a big improvement over red.
