a post-election note ...

I am not absolute on the politics of the establishment, but a few years back, they had a political candidate's sign in their window ... and NOT A DEMOCRAT.

Now, Mrs. ZBDent and I have frequented this place for quite some time, being two of their earliest customers ... not quite in the group which would call themselves "the first".

Thursday, Mrs. Z decided we needed to get take-out. This was JUST after work, so she didn't get out of the car we were in. I went in to wait for our order, and the owner came running out to talk with Mrs. Z. (Have had great relationship with the owners, very friendly toward us).

So, I finish up, take the food out and we head home. As we're on our way, Mrs. Z informs me that the owner related a story ... (allegedly) election night, when it came up "Obama", a number of people in the place applauded, waved their arms in the air. (that was good). Then, according to the owner, "they started talking about how their jobs were saved and they were going to buy foreign cars."

Well, I informed Mrs. Z about the experiences I have had (on DU, no less) when I mentioned about X people buying "foreign" or "American" cars ... how Ford has factories in Mexico, and how "foreign" cars have plants in the U.S. (usually, southern, Republican areas). How there was an "autoworker" caller berating schoolteachers for driving "foreign" cars ...

Mrs. ZBDent pleaded with me not to ruin our relationship with a good "hole-in-the-wall" pizza place.

Aah, marital bliss ...
