Yes, Obama lost all of the old South except Florida and Virginia and essentially all of Redneckistan.
Even so, it is a bit surprising to see the results of some of those states where he got at least 43.5% of the vote.
Arizona, Indiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina

(1,399 posts)At first I thought it was a bit off since it had Florida as a bit bigger than Texas but they did cast more votes total. Trying to find states that mimic each other and it's hard, Connecticut is sort of like a smaller version of Massachusetts, Kentucky and Tennessee are also fairly similar

(53,521 posts)If you look at a county-level election map one sees a line of blue countries in the deep South, those are counties with large African-American populations.
