Trump campaign calls on Clinton to return donations from Anthony Weiner

Donald Trump's campaign called Thursday on Hillary Clinton to return a pair of campaign donations from disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner, who is being examined by federal and municipal investigators. Trump also has financial ties to Weiner, having given to his congressional campaigns in the past.

Trump deputy communications director Jessica Ditto issued a statement calling the investigations, which authorities said are related to a report in Britain's Daily Mail that Weiner sent sexually explicit messages to a 15-year-old girl, "extremely disturbing."

"The Clinton campaign should immediately return all campaign contributions from Weiner. America has had enough of the sleaze that is Clinton, Inc.," Ditto said.

Clinton's campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

As NBC News reported last month, records also show that Trump has given to Weiner in the past. He made a $2,300 donation to his congressional campaign in 2007 and gave $2,000 in 2010, the records show.

Donald Trump has had few good things to say about Anthony Weiner in recent years, but the Republican presidential candidate has been a repeat donor of the disgraced Democrat and former politician.

Trump said Weiner's wife, Huma Abedin, who is also a top aide to Hillary Clinton, is "far better off without him," after Abedin announced that she was separating from her husband over a new sexually explicit texting scandal broke.

But Trump, who has contributed money to both Democrats and Republicans, including his rival Hillary Clinton, was supportive of Weiner in the past. He donated twice, including the maximum amount of $2300 to Weiner's congressional races in 2007 and 2010 and he made a small $150 contribution to his city council race in 1997.

Weiner may be a sleazeball, but the only people he's hurting is his wife and family. The KKK, Aryan Nation, etc have a long history of terrorism and hate.

How about donations from Russia, China, Saudi Arabia?

or a concerned citizen is now plowing through the list of Trump donors to find:

convicted sex offenders,
convicted felons,
known racists,
convicted batterers
etc.

and compiling a hefty list of all the donations the Trump campaign will now have to return.

Which of course it won't.
