"SNIP........................................
Obama couched his reelection victory as giving him the authority to focus on job creation his way, with protections for the middle class and deficit reduction paid for by the nations wealthiest. The way to avert the year-end fiscal cliff, he said, is the very proposal he has been making for months on the campaign trail.
The message you sent was clear: You voted for action, not politics as usual, he said. You elected us to focus on your jobs, not ours.
As he has this week, Obama said hes open to compromise within limits. He wont accept increases in what the middle class pays in federal taxes or reduced aid for specific groups of people.
I refuse to accept any approach that isnt balanced, he said. I will not ask students or seniors or middle-class families to pay down the entire deficit while people making over $250,000 arent asked to pay a dime more in taxes. This was a central question in the election. And on Tuesday, we found out that the majority of Americans agree with my approach that includes Democrats, independents and Republicans.

(297,308 posts)said Social Security Cuts were off the table which I already believed to be the case having read in on the White House blog.
There were cuts to Medicare by this Admin but it was the deadwood not to benefits.. like the fucking Cons were lying about all over Everywhere during the campaign. Looking at you, fucking lyin' and mittLies.
The President has our Back like we had his. This would be a heckava lot easier if we didn't have boner, cantor, and the teabag gang in Congress to Deal with but that happened in 2010 when the dems didn't get out and vote. the House turned Red and we've been paying for it ever since.
Maybe in 2014 We CAn All Get OUT And Help the Senate and the President.

(9,600 posts)That reason does not include kowtowing to GOP demands to do it the GOP way.
The voters feel President Obama will protect Social Security benefits / Medicare and he better protect the middle classes safe guards.
