(58,785 posts)Knowing about his mental disorder, yes, he'd almost certainly give adequately life-sustaining care, but no responsible parent would dare trust him to do so, much less to give good, attentive care.

(10,419 posts)We took the kids 20 years ago, and it cost about the same as box seats at a Giants game.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)Football Giants or baseball Giants?
spiderpig
(10,419 posts)ETA - maybe it was reserved seating. Whatever. But as I recall it cost nearly $30.00 pp to bowl at a local alley. Plus shoes.

(58,724 posts)It's amazing how many sports are dying out due to the expense required.
Bodes well for soccer where you just need a ball and some space.

(14,856 posts)I assume that TV coverage doesn't constantly break to commercials during the games since the clock generally keeps running until halftime? (I'm revealing that I've never watched a full soccer match on TV with this question!)
Commercial breaks and high ticket costs are making many traditional American sports unbearable! I watched the Ohio State vs. Oklahoma game on TV recently, and the frequent game breaks and advertisements made me question what the heck I was doing!
If soccer doesn't allow advertisements to the same extent, I'm not surprised that our corporate media has repeatedly crapped on that game over the years! American football, on the other hand, is a perfect way to shove corporate propaganda down our throats during the repeated time-outs.

(58,724 posts)Also, everyone's uniforms are advertisements for different companies. And of course the stadiums are plastered with them as well.
But generally speaking, you do get to watch long stretches with no commercial breaks.

fast forward many years, i recently took mini-unblock bowling. 2 games each plus shoe rental for him only (i have my own), just over $50.
insane. not bowling again any time soon.
oberliner
(58,724 posts)The shoe rental always seemed like a bit of a scam, though. Also, I would often spend a bunch of quarters at the video games that were present there as well.

(52,317 posts)i got it mainly for the ball, of course. i'm not remotely a regular bowler but it easily paid for itself just in avoiding shoe rentals over the years.

(58,724 posts)Feels like a scam to me to force people to rent shoes.
