Ami Bera's lead over Dan Lungren grows

From Daily Kos:
--------------------------

Yes, Rep. Dan Lungren, who is losing, is leading orientation for the new members of the House of Representatives in his capacity as House administration chairman. They guy who is beating him, Dr. Ami Bera, is attending that orientation, which is scheduled through the month of November. Making it all the more delicious, Bera's lead is getting bigger.

As of the previous count from Friday, Bera was ahead by 1,779 votes. As of today's new count that lead has increased to 3,824 votes. That's a trend to applaud.

There's probably about 50,000 ballots left to count in this one. We'll keep you posted on when the next ballot count will be released.

This is going to last, however, at least as long as Lungren's freshman orientation does, and could go into December easily, with what looks now to be an inevitable recount. That means Bera has to retain staff, and prepare for the recount. Which means he's still spending.

1. It looks like Scott Peters is also still leading Brian Bilbray as well

So if both Bera & Peters hold onto their leads, that will be a total of 3 pickups in California (the other one being Raul Ruiz beating Mary Bono Mack).

4. Unfortunately for me, I live in a double Repub district

District 31. I used to live in District 27, Hilda Solis' old district before Judy Chu won her seat, but then we moved into the Inland Empire and I got stuck with Miller. Urgh! The choice was to vote for one Republican over the other. I opted NOT to vote on either one. I couldn't bring myself to vote for any Republican.

11. The Democrats are currently leading in all of the remaining House races as far as I know

There are about 4 or 5 House races that still have not been officially called.

If they win all of them, I think the Democratic number in the House will go up to 201.

Ron Barber of Arizona is maintaining a narrow lead in the Gabrielle Giffords seat.

And along with Ami Bera maintaining a lead over Dan Lungren in California, Scott Peters is maintaining a lead over Brian Bilbray in California as well.

I think the incumbent Democrat in North Carolina is also narrowly ahead in the race there.

And there's one more race I think that I'm forgetting.

Patrick Murphy has been certified as the winner in Florida over Allen West, but West is still trying to challenge the results.

12. Election Update: Peters Widens Gap with Bilbray

Nov 2012

NOVEMBER 14, 2012

As the vote count at the San Diego County Registrar of Voters office extends into its second week, Scott Peters continued to see his lead in the 52nd Congressional District race grow. The previous update from the Registrar showed Peters with a 1,899 vote lead over Republican incumbent Brian Bilbray.

As of last night’s update, with approximately 210,000 mail-in and provisional ballots from around the county yet to be counted, Peters’ lead grew to 2,660, further dimming Bilbray’s reelection hopes.

On election night, the race became one of the most exciting in California for political junkies waiting up, checking for updated tallies as if checking the score for their favorite football team. As the clock ticked toward two a.m. Wednesday morning, Nov. 7, a mere 13 votes separated the two candidates, with Bilbray in the lead.

Since then, however, it has been a slow and steady climb for the Democratic challenger, who assumed the lead and has never relinquished it, extending it with each update. Although the Bilbray camp has not yet conceded the race, Peters was confident enough in the results that according to reports he has traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend an orientation for incoming freshman legislators.
