Jan Brewer isn't ruling out running for a third term as Gov of AZ

would not rule out a potential third term in office.

In an interview with The Arizona Republic, the governor said supporters are still encouraging her to research whether a third term would be viable. At least one political adviser close to Brewer acknowledged that numerous aides and other supporters are trying to rally her for a third term.

The state Constitution allows elected officials to serve two terms. The question is: What's a term?

"I have been encouraged by people in the community -- people whom I respect, and others whom I don't even know -- wanting me to look into what really constitutes a term," Brewer said, adding that the last four years have been "rough" and tremendously difficult.

The Republican governor and her spokesman, Matthew Benson, stressed that they are not holed up in a war room plotting the notion 12 hours a day.

"It's not something that is consuming her time," he said late Friday.

No member of the executive department after serving the maximum number of terms, which shall include any part of a term served, may serve in the same office until out of office for no less than one full term.
