Trump is really sui generis

Trump is really sui generis. His contempt for democratic norms and the rule of law is without precedent. I opposed Reagan and the Bushes with every fiber of my being, but I never felt as if our small r republican or small d democratic form of government, depending on your viewpoint, was on the ballot.

I will be happy when this is over. Anybody who votes for Trump holds democracy, pluralism, and representative government in contempt. Period.

Trumps debate performance is evidence of his lying and crookedness. Does he really think we have short attentions spans?

Maybe the passage of time makes people look better but I don't believe Reagan or the Bushes were devoid of all empathy... Trump reminds me of a guy who would promise two homeless people fifty dollars if they fought and then not pay them when they did. Ditto for his running mate.

He could never be a leader only a dictator. He cares only for himself and maybe the "children of the corn" ( his kids ) but for them just maybe.
