Time to bring back slinking off into ignominy

Whatever happened to putting your tail between your legs and exiting the public scene when it is revealed that you are a sorry excuse for a human being? You used to get run out of town on a rail. You had to pack up your things and move elsewhere.

Today, we have the RWers saying that we should accept Trump's pseudo apology and forgive him for a lifetime of misogyny, racism, bigotry and every other blatantly hateful thing he has ever said or done in his life. We are supposed to say, "thank you for the apology, Donald. You can now proceed to occupy the WH and serve as president for the next 4 years."

WTH?!

How about this: we accept your apology - lame as it is - for this one incident. But you have proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that you are NOT qualified to be even a reality show host, let alone president. Please crawl back under the rock from whence you came where you are welcome to live the rest of your sorry life with your friends and family. But please, please do not ever again bespoil the existence of the rest of us by imposing your presence in the public square. Go away. Do not come back. If you seek redemption, make it a private affair between you and whoever. We have had enough, and we're not interested in your reclamation.
