The electoral college is the final vote. When we vote in November, we vote for electors to the electoral college, and I don't think the electors are bound by the vote results. It will be an interesting election for sure.

write-in votes are not even counted.

IOW, would that persons Senate and other votes count?

An invalid vote on one race doesn't void the whole ballot.
