2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI know that it looks very unlikely that Trump will win.
but there is still that tiniest chance. I'm just not ready to celebrate yet. Not until it is officially called on election day. We have to keep working to make sure that Clinton wins and that disgusting thing does not. I don't want to let up on him or the Republican party that let this happens. I don't want people to not vote because they don't think there is a point since Clinton to win. I want as many people to vote as possible so we can have as many democratic senators, congressmen, governors, mayors as possible. I want the orange monster to be completely destroyed on election day. I want to send a clear message that this country never wants another candidate like him. I'm going to enjoy watching the next two debates and the other scandals that come up in the next month but I'm saving my true celebrating for November 8th.

(2,542 posts)...when you factor in Clinton's ground game, ongoing early voting having already started, and the amount of time left for the damage from these tapes to expand and sink in with the electorate, HRC is in a VERY strong position, even moreso than she was Thursday while riding the positive outcome of the first debate.
"Hope for the best, plan for the worst," is always good advise, though.

(45,003 posts)Trump won the nomination by creating distractions. Let the Republicans get all worked up - Trump's their guy. We've still gotta win for Hillary the old fashioned way. GOTV!

(2,795 posts)It's not over till it's over. With all of the hacking and leaks that have been going on, and the repubs trying to finagle a way to maybe replace him, if at all possible.
Too many unknowns to just assume it's a slam dunk.

(9,186 posts)The fact that this information has been out there and ignored by the GOP is yuggeee in itself.
He has made deplorable comments throughout the campaign disparaging men and women.
The fact that some GOP members have expressed outrage at Trumps deplorable words yet have been resoundingly silent regarding his bragging about his sexual assaults on females.
Evangelical "Christian right" still support Trump.
Yes, we still have to keep working against Trump the sexual predator.

(20,998 posts)...it is time for the GOP to spend the next 40 years wandering in the political desert atoning for their sins, which are many.
How anyone in the GOP today can call themselves the "Party of Lincoln" is beyond me.
