theres still a lot of the Deporables who will stick with Trump to the end

I just saw Joe Heck getting booed loudly while distancing himself from Trump. A bunch of the knuckle-draggers will stick with Trump and could very well turn on the rest of the GOP who are calling for Trump to withdraw, which could drag down down-ballot tickets even worse.

The Deplorables likely love what Trump said probably saying, hey, see he's just like us! Pathetic! RKP5637 Oct 2016 #2

Trump has that whole pack of white supremacists, alt-righters and assorted knuckledraggers that will defend and support him no matter what. That's why the GOP pols (especially those who are up for re-election) have been sticking with him. Now they have to decide whether they want to risk losing the Trumpkin vote for the sake of their careers in the next election cycle, by which time Trump will be regarded as toxic waste that no landfill will accept.

Supporting him. Even if Trump stepped down, or was removed by the GOP, they would simply think it was all a plan by the establishment to take him down, and they would never vote for any replacement, no matter who it would be.

The republicans are in between the old rock and a hard place. They have no option that will help them win the WH, and they know it. Now they are trying to save face, and try and help the down ticket candidates, although those who have supported Trump up till know are going to have hard time trying to explain why it took them so long to cut the strings.
