Profiles in Cowardice

Pence and a whole host of republican congressmen and Senators could do the right and honorable thing despite the consequences, and refuse to vote for Trump and unendorse him. I am reminded of JFK's book, "Profiles in Courage." Specifically, I'm reminded of the chapter about Sam Houston, who as governor of Texas went against the prevailing consensus and refused to stand with those who wanted Texas to secede from the Union. Well this is Republicans opportunity to display either a profile in courage or cowardice. It will not be forgotten which choice each makes. Sometimes an honorable person tells the referee that he stepped out of bounds and loses the match, because he's -- well an honorable person. Better to have the character and courage of doing the right thing, than have to live with the shame of being a coward and a hypocrite with your honor tarnished.
