Legal Experts on the DU: Question About Sexual Assault Punishment

As you might imagine, I am not a legal expert, so trying to comb through the laws on sexual assault has lead me nowhere. Instead, I'll just ask people who know.

I am wondering, what type of punishment someone would be facing if they actually did what Trump said that he did from the tape yesterday?

I'm sure it varies by state but in general if a 59 year old man kissed a woman and grabbed her genitals without consent, what kind of jail sentence, fines, sex offender registration would he be facing?

I WA state it could be called Indecent Liberties (sexual contact by forcible compulsion). It is a Class A felony here in WA and the amount of time a person would spend would depend on his criminal history. Middle of the range with no criminal history would be 59 months plus 36 months of community custody (probation like); and registration as a sex offender.

It could also be charged as an assault with sexual motivation. If the assault was a felony, the sexual motivation tag would increase the time in custody by one year, and sex offender registration would be required.

Here, however without injury, it would likely be only a misdemeanor (if not indecent liberties), and at this point it does not require registration or enhanced sentence. "A harmful or offensive touching."
