Yes they have major problem, any change to the ticket will be vigorously litigated by DNC

However, Trump will not quit. The deadline for changing ballots has passed in every state AFAIK. Even if he did quit, Trump would still be on every ballot in November.

his supporters will be pissed and might not support other republicans in other races.
If he stepped down his supporters probably wouldn't vote for the new "nominee"

Plus the cut-off date for ballot changes has passed in many states. Then, there's all the absentee ballots already out there.
The tooth paste does not go back into the tube.

Those electors could, in theory, cast their vote for someone other than Trump if some kind of agreement to that effect is reached.
