... is that it doesn't matter whether he drops out or not.

If the GOP pulls their support and focuses all of their resources on down-ticket candidates, Trump is no better off than if he did drop out.

... if the GOP hasn't figured out by now that Trump has been fucking them all along, that's their problem.

He has driven a wedge between the Republicans and every voting demographic they need - from immigrants, to Muslims, to vets, to the disabled, to women, etc. He has been wearing a neon sign around his neck that says: "Don't vote for me, or the party that nominated me!"

At this point, I can only assume that Trump has a minuscule dick - that's the only explanation for how he could have repeatedly shoved it up GOP asses without them ever noticing it.

If Trump leaves they'll need to come up with an alternate candidate within hours and start the legal mess that they will need to undertake to replace him on all 50 state ballots. The new Candidate would need to hit the ground running and be able to debate within days. I imagine the DNC will not take this laying down and there'll be counter suits to deal with. Not to mention how the deplorables might react. I think this could really hurt the party and it might just be more practical to just cut their losses and save the down ticket as best as they can at this point.

They have to reconvene the convention and then select the candidate.
