Big majority of Republicans want Trump to stay in race per new poll

A new Politico/Morning Consult poll finds that just 39% of voters think Donald Trump should end his presidential campaign, while only slightly more voters, 45%, think he should not drop out.

But voters are largely viewing Trump’s comments through their own partisan lens: 70% of Democrats say Trump should end his campaign, but just 12% of Republicans — and 13% of female Republicans — agree.

In an election match up, Hillary Clinton leads Trump by four points, 42% to 38%, with Gary Johnson at 8%.

had already withdrawn and the others are still strongly motivated by the various factors that lead to their Trump rebellion in the first place. Refusing to be distracted by what they already knew?

In any case, this suggests most of the "outrage" might just be the excuse politicians in trouble (and so-called journalists) were looking for to withdraw support from him without offending too many constituents. And it's NOT working?! Obviously can't underestimate these people's tolerance for pols they want to elect, but these numbers give me hope for backlash.

Note that clever Paul Ryan did not "dis-endorse."
