2016 Postmortem

Before the first debate, DJT's worry other than policy question was being perceived as a bully, especially towards HRC. HRC's concern was to stand up to DJT bullying as a strong person. I thought about what they would wear, and came to the conclusion that if it were me, I would suggest HRC wear red and DJT go softer - with maybe blue. I was very surprised to see that happen in reality.
Today, I think DJT is going to come back swinging. I think he's going to wear red to show his "power". HRC on the other hand has to walk a careful line. I think she will wear a strong color shirt - like orange or yellow and wear a more official looking black or dark blue jacket on top. Or perhaps wear a strong, but neutral color shirt like yellow/Orange (though I don't like that look on her.
What do you all think?

(364 posts)I was just thinking about the science/art of subtle messaging and psychology. Do you think her advisors don't think about it?

(28,394 posts)I liked that white suit she wore at the convention. Don't know if she will wear white after Labor Day though! (I know, that sounds silly.)
If I were her I would go with something like Kate McKinnon wore on Saturday night. It was a bright pink jacket with a black shell underneath, and probably black pants. It looked "celebratory."

(6,592 posts)Possibly she's inaugurating the standard business suit for women. I could deal with it. I like standard clothing, as long as it's comfortable - saves time and hassle.

(50,559 posts)If clothes send a message, the message Hillary's outfit needs to send is, "we're not putting up with your shit, you little worm."

Depending on the background, she has a lovely burgundy suit with a collarless jacket that is very flattering. Or a vivid almost dayglow pink that is spectacular. There is a black suit with pink piping on the collar edges, but I can only find one photo of that one and it reminds me of the clothes Number Six wore in The Village.
