So Hillary wins. Now imagine 2020 and 2024

Unless the saner elements of the GOP re-exert control, we're going to be pining for someone like Trump. Here's why.

Trump is the Frankenstein's Monster of the republican party that decided that they didn't like a Black man being president so they built up and gave more credence to the insane part of their party, and then because of it, lost power to them. Secret Muslim, not really an American, letting in illegal immigrants to build FEMA re-education camps where our children will be placed (after he takes all our guns, of course) to turn them all into Prius-driving, vegan, gay Muslims, etc. In other words, they built that. They decided that insane hatred was the best way to govern for 8 long years. Frankly, it's surprising Obama was able to get anything done at all.

What do you think they're going to be like after 4 to 8 years of having a woman president just after having a Black one? If the tea-party elements are still in charge, you know they're going to be thinking that they lost in 16 because they didn't go hard far-right enough. What kind of nutjob are they going to get then? One that makes Trump look sane. I can't think of anyone out there that fits the bill except for Cruz, but I think he's over.

If the republicans were smart, they would exorcise their nuttier demons from their party and spend some time rebuilding it. They would perhaps lose more than what they currently are during this time, but it would save them as a party in the long run. Unfortunately for them, even the saner ones prefer to attempt to make quick points with cheap shots, not thinking about how it will affect them in the not-so-distant future than put in the time and effort to be adults.

Republican primary voters were acting out the last gasp of a pure white supremecist electorate. It's over. They can't win this way, as will be amply demonstrated on November 8. They will track back toward the middle as a matter of basic necessity.

6. They will have to do REAL Latino outreach starting November 9 or they will lose Texas in 2020

Even the dumbest of the alt-right white supremecist yahoos will recognize that you can't win with white males only. I'd bet we see Ryan come back, and with a set of real policies to support African American and Latino voters. Their world is literally over; this was the last election where they could kinda run this program, and even it will have proved out a disaster. Rubio and Cruz were the future, or a hint of the future, but they weren't talented, and the white rage was too great.

The strategy they've adopted since Reagan (and really, Bush was smart enough to trend against it, which people don't really remember) is done, finito.

We're going to see a new GOP after November 8, and we best be ready for it.

the relatively sane "business conservatives" (low taxes, trickle down, no regulations) who might just throw in with the libertarians..

The evangelicals... who might just simply vanish as a force... The war on christmas is over (never was one)... the gay agenda is already here... and abortion is safe, legal (could be more legal) and, increasingly, rare.

The tea party bat shit insane (xenophobic, racist, misogynist) will be the new and much smaller GOP. They will continue to run some states into the ground (I have a sad for my birth state of Kansas).

...like the members of the last violently anti-immigrant party, the appropriately named "Know Nothings" of the 1850's.

We need a sane opposition in this country, and hopefully there will be some such survivors of the Republican Party.
