Just like so many ordinary people, he believes everything he finds on the Internet is real and truthful. He shares the same propensity as many other Americans in believing every outrageous assertion that drops into their inbox or pops up in a twitter feed, or on Facebook. He repeats all of it without any critical thinking or skeptical filter, and so do a lot of other seemingly normal people.

Now, he's supposedly a smart man. He's educated, he's wealthy, he has everything he wants and access to people, places and things that would boggle the brain. So what does is the common denominator between Trump and all the other people who keep falling for conspiracy theories, or can't distinguish legitimate news reporting from partisan opinions, anonymous bloggers or comments in open forums?
