Just Reported on CNN - Ryan telling House members to abandon Trump if necessary

On a conference call just concluded Paul Ryan told House Republican members that they will be putting all of their efforts into ensuring that Republicans maintain control of the House and none into helping Trump getting elected.

He essentially said that Trump has no chance of winning and that they must maintain control of the House to ensure that Hillary does not have the ability to do what ever she wants to do with both the Senate and the House in Democratic hands.

So far Ryan isn't yet taking back his endorsement of Trump.

Ryan told his delegation to do whatever they need to do with regard to Trump in order to get elected. If that means they have abandon Trump - do it. If that means they have to continue to endorse him - do it.

This is proof positive that Republicans believe Trump has zero chance of getting elected.

for most of the race even when similar problems were uncovered.

Plus if they dump Trump, they have a good chance of losing his voters.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't. Thank you Donnie Trump.

Report: @SpeakerRyan "tells House GOP he won't defend Trump." I think that's called benign neglect. Pretty much how he's acted as Speaker.

Republican role model Comrade Donald Trump's shit is stinking so bad even his slobbering Republican sycophants feel the need to hide their adoration of him from public view.

The presidency for the Rs has been forfeited, so we may see them treating this General Election as a Mid-Term Election, with lower numbers turning out. Dems are treating it as a General Election and will have that type of turnout. Those two catalysts would swing everything blue.

Republicans state legislatures have gerrymandered the congressional districts such that it may be impossible to take over control of the House regardless of the situation.

but it is plenty vulnerable to a wave election. Gerrymandering works by trying to create as many small, but dependable leads on your side as possible, and packing your opponents votes into fewer districts that they will win in landslides.

If Hilary really has a lead approaching double-digits, and a dispirited GOP base has poor turnout, it's a real possibility. (Though I would agree that at this point, it still appears unlikely.)

I guess that is because I am in Alabama where gerrymandering take the form of pushing most of the democrats in as few districts as possible leaving large and dependable GOP leads on their side in most districts. I suspect that is true of other Southern and other very conservative states as well.

However, you have a very good point in states where the voting distribution is more equal.

That's said, I hope I am wrong, but I'll believe that the control of the House can be wrested away from the Republicans before the next census only when I see it done.

Remember that gerrymandering is not the only dirty trick in the Republican controlled legislatures' play book. Add to that the various kinds of voter suppression and any other thing they can think of to stay in power.
