Beached Killer Whale, ORCA, Not 'Obama's Gifts' Beat Romney

Mitt Romney lost the Presidential election November 6 – winning only 38.3% of the 538 electoral votes. But Romney, a famously data-driven decider, has completely missed the boat when it comes to explaining his loss.

It was not what Romney called ”Obama’s gifts” that won him the election, it was a self-inflicted wound — the failure of Romney’s online voter turnout system — ORCA — that vaporized Romney’s power dreams...(snip)

(snip)...ORCA was the killer whale that beached itself on election day. According to the Boston Globe, Romney’s campaign thought ORCA was an ”unrivaled high-tech means of communicating with more than 30,000 field workers who were stationed at polling places on Election Day.”

ORCA did not work as planned. If turnout in key precincts was lower than expected, ORCA was supposed to notify Romney’s Boston headquarters. Instead, ORCA got beached due to two problems that could have been fixed if Romney’s team had tested ORCA robustly before election day...

getting citizens who are not planning to vote to the polls. I have worked doing this. I'm sure most of you have too. It is a vote here, a vote there. It doesn't really change an election, ever. It helps, but it is really only about the voters who were not going to vote for one reason or another.

100,000? Maybe 200,000? 300,000 tops? It wouldn't have even flipped one state.

The conservatives can come up with as much magical excuses as they want, whether it's the "obama Gift Theory" or the "Technology Failed Us Theory." They're both equally asinine, and equally disdainful of democracy. The basic fact of the matter is simple: both sides made their case, and more people chose a center-left vision. People rejected Romney's market extremism. The United States is not a conservative or even center right country. It is, when you get high voter turnout, a center-left country, especially on social issues.

Romney lost because he was too conservative, period. And conservatives will say "He's not even conservative! He's a moderate RINO!." I agree. The American people saw a moderate RINO as too conservative. They would reject, a fortiori, anybody to the right of Romney.

ORCA didn't lose the election for Romney. Romney lost the election for Romney. But hey, if they want an excuse to keep doing what they're doing, I'm all for it.

...and I find it kind of funny that they are trying to pin this on anything other that the fact that Romney and the GOP just plain suck, but what I was saying, by posting this is, this article does sort of back up what others have posted about the group Anonymous jamming up Rove and Romney's computer systems.

Did Romney have groundtroops ready to storm precincts and prevent women, ethnic minorities, and LGBT Americans from voting?

it was also the firewall put up that kept Rove from accessing his internal polling and to work his "man in the middle" programming scheme in Ohio and Virginia. Since the first time I saw his reaction to the Ohio results...and his anxiety about it...it reminded me of the reaction I have seen when an IT department's hair is on fire because the server is down...but trying to put on a face to cover that anxiety. Furthermore, the amount of time it took Romney to come out and give the concession....I think they were still trying to digest that their plan was foiled....also, Ann Romney looked completely devasted as if she never once considered they may not win. I think they all thought it was in the bag! I still think Rove got ratf*cked!

No doubt Obama had an excellent ground game and better data analysts! But I truly believe that Rove and his cohorts would do ANYTHING to ensure their win....and considering it would be so easy to do....I think he was intending to cheat that way...but was foiled.

Its not ORCA or "gifts" or urban demographics. Its Barack Obama. He was/is the better candidate. And thats why he won. His vision is a superior vision. His plans are superior plans (and they actually have details to back them up, unlike Romneys). His leadership skills are superior. His ability to empathize and connect with voters is superior. He is a better person than Mitt Romney. He is smarter than Mitt Romney. He was/is the better candidate. Period. Someone needs to get on the damn teevee box and scream this to the skies. Obama won because he was BETTER. All this other shit is just an attempt to shy away from admitting that fact.
