http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2016/10/christie_trump_video_comments_were_completely_inde.html#incart_river_home_popChris Christie broke his three-day silence on the explosive video showing Donald Trump in 2005 condoning sexual assault and bragging of attempting to seduce a married woman, calling it "completely indefensible" and "just unacceptable," but stopped short of pulling his endorsement.
Making a radio appearance on WFAN's "Boomer and Carton," the governor told Craig Carton that the video of Trump, now the Republican presidential nominee, is "completely indefensible and I won't and haven't defended it."
Christie also said that Trump's apology was inadequate.
"He should have been much more direct and focused on just saying sorry and only saying sorry," said Christie, one of Trump's top advisers. "When you're going to make an apology like that, you need to be focused on it (alone)."
Read article at link.
It must be a hard thing to do for a thug/bully/crook to openly confess there is in fact no way around it, you simply cannot defend the indefensible. To understand Christie's words you must take to account there is no way around it. What it really means comes latter in the week.
This is funny.

Christie: I wouldn't step in to replace Trump on GOP ticket
Gov. Chris Christie says he won't be riding to the rescue of the Republican Party if Donald Trump quits or is removed as the GOP presidential nominee over his 2005 remarks condoning sexual assault.
Making a radio appearance on WFAN's "Boomer and Carton," the governor said that he hasn't been asked to by party leaders, but even if he was, he wouldn't be willing to pinch hit as the Republican candidate for president.
"No," answered Christie flatly, when asked if anyone in the GOP leadership had or were to approach him about replacing Trump on the ticket.
Christie must have felt honored that such a question was fielded in his direction. In the moment he must have felt relevant again !

(7,819 posts)blue? Don't we have his last year's worth of other campaign comments that put this 2005 comment in proper perspective with respect to treatment of women? And don't we have a lifetime of Trump's behavior and comments to put the last year's comments in perspective too?
We do we have to debate this at all? The facts and history are clear. Why is it so hard for dem officials, pundits, and candidates to put together an overall case of how the public should view this 2005 video? There really aren't two sides to this issue, but it is kept alive somehow, rather than coming to resolution and consensus.
This is the GOP way....distill complex and varied issues down to an isolated talking point which can be muddied and confused until no one knows what is fact and what is fiction...people just think there are two sides to the story and both have merit.
