Sexual Assault Hotline Traffic Spiked During The Debate
Online hotline traffic saw a 33 percent increase over the weekend following Trumps vile remarks.
Donald Trumps abusive behavior is news to no one ― his gaslighting techniques and creepy, leering body language fit the bill for textbook abuser.
But in the wake of his grab em by the pussy comments that were released on Friday of last week, his inability to understand those comments arent simply locker room talk, and his parading of alleged sexual assault survivors at the second debate brought Trump to a whole new level of ugliness ― and its having a serious effect on the mental health and well-being on sexual assault survivors who are tuning into the debates.
According to RAINN, the sexual assault survivor nonprofit that administers the National Sexual Assault Hotline, there was a 33 percent increase in online hotline traffic over the weekend ― particularly on Sunday night, the evening of the presidential debate. There were times when there were 20-30 people in our queue, a RAINN representative told The Huffington Post. This conversation is evidence that sexual violence affects nearly every family in America.
RAINN provides anonymous and completely confidential support to its visitors. But used Twitter on Monday to share their thoughts on Trumps triggering behavior ― from his body language and word choice to the way he used women as political props.

(13,468 posts)of him stalking Hillary around the stage with that hateful scowl made me shudder. I have never been sexually assaulted (a guy tried to grab me with his pants down when I was a grad student out power walking, but I fought him off with my weights), like so many women I know; but the incidences of having a man hover over me for intimidation and degradation purposes have been more than a few. I am glad I got too tired to watch the debate, just the clips of him doing that to her have a negative effect on me.

(20,588 posts)I know there are many women thrown back into their worst memories over watching and hearing trump. What makes it even worse is seeing that cheerleader at the women for trump rally and her cohorts. It is as if our abusers are being elevated and sexual assault is being passed off as normal.
