2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumPlease vote early. Encourage every democrat you know to vote early.
I know it may not be possible everywhere, but if it is please try to do it. Voting early takes away the intimidation factor. It also is often faster and easier to fit into you schedule. I'm sure there are more reasons, feel free to add them. Absentee ballots are being mailed today in Ohio if you've asked for one. Let's do this people!

I know California is a safe State where we don't have to fear intimidation at the polls, but we've elected to vote absentee permanently because I want that vote IN and counted as soon as possible.
Hello fellow Californian!

President, senator, congress are pretty obvious. I've almost made up my mind on the state offices and most of the propositions, but the race that's getting all the local attention - city council - is going to be harder to decide.

Also a cane or walking stick can double as a weapon in a pinch, and it's legal to carry everyplace.

If you see questionable activity, please call it to the attention of the precinct officials or call the police to report it. It's important that polling places are actually visited by voters who can watch for problems.
I have always voted at my precinct, except for one election when I was in the USAF in 1968.

(341 posts)I'd love to have one of Trumpy's mouth breathers try to stop me from voting. I'd rhetorically take them down quicker than a pig at a rodeo.
I don't like voting early. I like voting on election day. I'm taking off work and spending the day in line. It's a right of passage. A thrill.
But, if people want to vote early. They should.

(19,972 posts)1) Avoid intimidation on the day
2) Avoid queues on voting day, especially in areas where Repubs have reduced Voting Centres
3) Avoid people turning to find they've been deleted from the Electoral Roll
4) Send a signal the Campaign can use to publicise that their voters are energised
The above and/or anything else ?

(81 posts)This election is the first time early voting is allowed in Mass for all registered voters. I can vote next Monday at Town Hall, so I will.
I expect no drama at the polls. I'm in a very blue state in a mid-sized suburb with a pretty much non-existent violent crime rate. No fear here! But, I want this election over and the more people vote early, all over the country, the sooner we can have everything counted and put to bed.

(9,874 posts)My wife and I are going to vote early (starting this Thursday) in Goldsboro NC so that when people line up to vote on Election Day it will take them less time to vote and the lines will be shorter. It's just a little thing, but the little things add up.

I'll be voting in a very red county, and I'm not in the least worried.
How in the world would anyone know how you're voting anyway?
