That concern about re-election was NOT the problem is clearly shown by the fact that the President had to pivot leftward in his rhetoric during election season in order to appeal to voters.

The problem of corporate money remains. As we have seen during this election, the best antidote to that problem is loud, persistent voices of the people, in order to create public pressure to respond to us rather than the corporate lobbyists and donors.

We have to keep the pressure up to force liberal policies, including changes to the corrupted and purchased system.

How did Obama pivot leftward to get funds? His ground game was awesome, period.

I agree, the money spent was obscene, and hopefully the SC might rethink or overturn their boneheaded move to allow unlimited money into the discourse.

Now might be a good time for us to start calling Capitol Hill and weighing in with your congresscritter. Not now specifically - it's Saturday evening. But next week the switchboard will be open at least through the early part of the week. Make sure they're aware, friend OR foe, that WE are there and WE are the ones who WON THE ELECTION. So they better take what WE want very seriously. WE rule. They didn't get a mandate of any sort. They're lucky they held onto the House and we didn't do better than we did. But we STILL main inroads and gained ground and we need to make sure they don't forget it.

'Cause if they think we don't care, they won't, either.

To tell these thieves when we call? Should I ask specifically for my congressman's office or should I just ask to be transferred to any congreeman?

Could be anybody else. Could be in my state or outside of California. Could be in my party or the opposition. Might be somebody involved in an issue I'm calling about, or otherwise care deeply about. That would be my recommendation. And one or both of your Senators. I make about four calls at any one time.

It's valuable to call Dems to remind them that we expect nothing less than Backbones-R-Us from them and that we DID DAMN WELL get a mandate! Did the bad guys ADD House seats? The answer is NO!

It's valuable to call republi-CONS because, deep down, they know how to count votes and they too saw what happened earlier this month, and that they LOST seats in the House and they LOST seats in the Senate and they LOST their chance at the White House, and the demographics are changing around them and they BETTER pay attention. The better to destabilize the enemy. They're weak and knocked off their game at the moment, and the wind's been knocked out of 'em, too. NOW is the time to exploit that weakness. And if they're teabaggers, they could well stand a reminder that they just lost two of their proudest and most obnoxious leading lights, the two highest-profile attention-hogging teabaggers of them all: 1) that asshole loudmouth bullying reckless swaggering deadbeat dad joe walsh in Illinois, AND 2) that pompous asshole idiot who says he has a higher secret clearance than the President goes, allen west in Florida. GONE. Good Riddance. Seeya. Sayonara Suckers. You may get some snot-nose staffer who imagines himself or herself the next kkkarl rove, and he or she may want to argue with you a little. Be polite, but stand FIRM. Concede NOTHING. And again, remember, the facts are on YOUR side. As is the mandate.

I also feel that he has a tremendous amount of integrity and he cares about us. I am also a realist. I realize he cannot do all the things he would like to do. Washington just doesn't work that way. He will try, but many times he will have to compromise. Compromising is not failure, he will get part of what he wants, just maybe not all of it. I'm OK with that because I know he tried. I trust him and I feel his vision for America is the country I want to live in.

We are so honored to have him as our President.

Election day could have resulted in us going backwards for the next 4 years. There is absolutely no doubt of that.

Best president in my lifetime and best friend women have ever had in the White House. Really looking forward to the next four years! I feel he speaks for me.

Gitmo will stay open, it won't even get moved to Illinois
Extra-judicial assassinations will continue
The folks that were tortured will stay locked up, the people that committed torture will never see a court room.
The White House will continue to assert that they can keep people locked up at Gitmo without trial. The will continue to assert that those found not guilty at their military commission trials that are biased against them can still be held against their will.
There will still be an insurance mandate.
There still won't be a public option.
There still won't be universal health care. There won't even be universal health insurance. People will still go bankrupt from health care costs they can't afford, even with insurance.
The rate of inflation of health care costs will continue to rise at roughly 7% (around 3 times the general rate of inflation).
We will still pay 5 times as much for less health care than our western european economic competitors.
Arne Duncan will still work to privatize "public" education.
