Related: About this forumJoe Scar v Chris Cuomo - call to action
I will be upfront and admit I am one of the many here who have this perverse attachment to Morning Joe. For me, as with most, it is the extension of our desire to support the cable news network that to some extent has staked its flag in trying to be a counter balance to Fox. And, the format has a certain banal appeal.
But, while we just can't stop going back, Scar is simply a lecherous POS. And, the whole thing is like a bad 80s after school special with him as the abusive father, Mika as the enabling wife and the rest of the toads as children filling their particular roles in a broken family system with a father who is one bad moment from smashing their heads off the table (or cutting off their nice little gig).
I had my fill of his backhanded double dealing bullshit in 08 and had not watched it until I started tuning in during this primary during a time when they were railing on Trump. Like coke, that was the taste that got me back on the roller coaster and despite his and Mikas never ending bullshit of tearing down Hillary and absurd way of propping up Trump I kept going back.
It was so painful that in the last few weeks I went to CNN, and I immediately saw a difference. Instead of the high minded holier than thou mindset of the dolts at MJ, there was an actual feel of journalism to it. And, the prime host was some guy that actually cut through the media bad news for dems bullshit on occassion. I felt like he had this familiar feel to him, but just could not put my finger on it. I looked him up and it the light turned on - CUOMO. Definitely has a lot of resemblance to his father, and is tough with a likability to him.
This morning:
Yeah, Scar said nice things about the Obama's. But, the entire rest of the show was the usual, his bullying his toads into not calling things for what they are now, spending the rest of the segment talking about the one recent poll that had Trump up a point or two in Ohio, pulling this shit out of his ass how Trump was down 14 going into the last debate and came out if it down 7, and repeatedly filibustering the discussion over how Trump will beat the polling by 3 to 4 points and generally horse racing it.
MEANWHILE, Cuomo had ANOTHER segment directly (and correctly) challenging wikileaks and the e-mail hacks of clinton staffers. He once again made the connection that these are all being facilitated by Russia, that Roger Stone has his hands all over them and how the trump campaign totally takes what is mostly nothing and completely misrepresents it.
MJ NEVER, N E V E R would do this, not only not challenge what is right now the primary false flag operation against the Hillary campaign, but actually delve into the facts of the situation to it.
Call to action - join me in supporting CNN and Cuomo in the morning. Tune in to CNN, make every effort to not tune into MJ. And, write e-mails in support of Cuomo and telling MJ why you are walking away.

(1,089 posts)You summed up what I have observed over the past 6 months perfectly. I will follow up on contacting MSNBC and CNN.

(61,696 posts)They are so singular in their coverage.
I have been watching CNN more, and listening to CNN more on my car radio (satellite). It's been easier on my system.

(2,056 posts)He knows his stuff and he will correct people when they try to twist and spin stuff. He did an interview with Trump where Chris was in complete control over the interview. That can be hard to do with Trump.

(14,567 posts)Wish I would have tuned into him a long time ago.

(2,056 posts)Wolf Blitzer is probably my least favorite main host, but even he has been better the last month or so. They have really awesome women hosts too, pretty much all of them are good. They do have some of the most obnoxious Trump surrogates that come on, though....but I think that's the same across all networks, lol.

(3,616 posts)I'm up early for work, and it is the only news watching time I have during the day and I like to be caught up on current events. I'm tired of the MJ thing too. Sometimes I watch Washington Journal, but I have a hard time listening to the mouth breathers (trump voters) calling in.

(6,587 posts)to CNN because I see the MJ show as the most dishonest, even more than fox because fox does not pretend to be nothing other than what it is except for their BS "fair & balanced" claim of course which everyone just laughs at.
He & Mika are nothing more than out just for themselves. They even went to Trump's office & met with him.
I join you in supporting CNN & Cuomo.

(8,998 posts)I was surprised re their general ability to take on the drumph nutjobs.
Also amazed that these sleaze apologists keep appearing like mushrooms.
Morning Joke is off my radar now.
He's making a huge fool of himself by the minute.

(58,724 posts)They have these inane Trump surrogates on all the time (Corey, Kayleigh, Jeffrey, Andy and many others).

(2,056 posts)And CNN has Ana Navarro, who delivers the best rants against Trump I have seen yet, lol.

(12 posts)You have nailed it. I'm done with Morning Crow..I have been watching CNN in the morning. I will switch back to see how pathetic they they are...
This was my tweet this morning: Poor Joe...quoting the only poll that gives him hope for a Trump win. Someone give him a hug....Where's Mika?

(11,098 posts)I finally started weaning myself off Morning Joe. The results were the same as taking my head out of a vise.
I must have hit that mute button hundreds and hundreds of times over the years, because I simply could not stand listening to Joe Scarborough, the official MSNBC loud-mouthed bully, talk over every person at the table and chew up a majority of his guests` airtime. Equally as frustrating was listening to Mika talk about giving speeches to women regarding finding their voices, as she sat there day after day nodding like a mechanical bobble head at most everything Scarborough said.
Enough already.
For me it was comfort with MSNBC, but not having anywhere else to go.
I can now see myself having a bromance with Cuomo ...

(7,006 posts)In fact, on an average week, we spend less than 2 hours (or none at all) watching MSNBC and None watching Faux News.
Why folks watch MSNBC over CNN, who knows but CNN have been all over the Trump Meltdown like butter on toast and doing an excellent job at it.
Regardless, the Trump Spin-Amateurs, the crews at CNN do a pretty job calling them on the carpet, and frankly making them look like Do-Do-Birds.
Why would anyone watch Morning Joe which is the worst out of MSNBC already dismal lineup, unknown, but to each its own.

(14,567 posts)it was so aimless for so long, and Blitzer is a both a complete dolt and right wing lackey. I just default to MSNBC because of people like Hayes, Maddow and O'Donnell. But, in the last few weeks I have been peeking in on CNN and mostly liking it.

(10,252 posts)You can use twitter and FB to say that you won't tune into MJ anymore. Rather, you'll tune into CNN from now on. News shows pay attention to social media trends. If enough of us complain often enough, MSNBC will dump Joe Scar for something else. I used to like Mika and thought that being a Brzenski gave her some clout. But no more. I'm tired of her wimpy deference to Scar's tantrums and table pounding.

(10,014 posts)This morning it was "Religious Leaders Slam Clinton".
A snip from the article "Catholic and evangelical groups slammed Hillary Clinton's campaign in a statement Thursday over comments revealed in the WikiLeaks emails hack between two high-level campaign officials.
Dozens of religious leaders who signed the statement expressed their "outrage at the demeaning and troubling rhetoric used by those within Secretary Clinton's campaign."
The article doesn't mention who the "leaders" are but the "leaders" are referencing hacked wikipee emails that the Clinton staffers do not recognize as their own. Even if these "leaders" believe the emails are legit, when did they ever demand an apology from Trump. Scum.

(2,056 posts)I don't use the website so can't speak to that and that's not really what we are talking about. As far as live news with hosts go I think CNN is the best network.

(12,413 posts)They often describe pols and voters as living in a presumed bubble, and well they may.
The bubble the American information institutions live in is all inclusive.
I am amazed by the daily spin and obsessive nature of what they refer to as "news".
This hit me right between the eyes following the last debate. Switching between MSNBC and CNN I heard only one account anywhere close to what I witnessed, from Eugene Sullivan I believe. I realized that no matter what Trump did, short of howling at the moon, they were going to give him a good review.
There was not one discussion relative to the answers to any question asked of the candidates.
Their job is to report on facts and not to speculate on what they thought they heard or saw. They need to parse and fact check the answers and give meaning to the rambling word salad of political dialogue.
The mess we are in is due to the utter failure of what could be our most important American institution.
The one thing Trump has right is that the MSM is fucking us over; he is using that to his advantage.
