"SNIP..............
Donald Trump isnt really running a campaign for president anymore. Instead, hes involved in an extended revenge plot or is simply following the politics of grievance to its natural, unseemly end, Chris Cillizza writes.
It appears as though Trumps minders have effectively given up, allowing the candidate to pursue his own score-settling and airing of grievances in these final weeks of the campaign. Taking that road may bring some satisfaction to Trump. But it has the potential to do catastrophic damage to the party he ostensibly leads as the GOP tries to hold its Senate and House majorities amid declining enthusiasm within its own ranks for its presidential nominee.
To care about that effect would mean that Trump was running a real campaign that grasped the idea that its about more than just the whims of a single candidate. He simply isnt doing that.

(8,656 posts)its been obvious for a while, Trump is only making money out of this, he's spending nada but sending all the donation money back to Trump companies.
There is no ground game, there is no outreach, hell i bet on Nov 8th, the Dem party is going to swamp the states with organizers while nothing appears for Trump, there is a shedload of money needed on election day to pay the teams that organize all this, its not coming, is it?
This could all go south very quickly in the next few weeks.
If he doesn't care, his supporters will slope off back under their rocks, as they wont either.

(81,298 posts)I hope to Heaven that they ebb back out to sea like storm surges do. I EARNESTLY hope so every time I hear or see or read another something that involves a threat of "revolution" or "torches and pitchforks" or "overthrow" or the violence that's being insinuated WAY too frequently lately. MAN! They are REALLY acting out!
This is absurd! Totally absurd.

(7,633 posts)Yup, and when this is all over and somebody or someone does the accounting on Trump's expenditures there are going to be recriminations for years to come. Lawsuits, pointing of fingers and public shaming will be on hilarious display forever.
I just can't wait to see what disasters occur on Nov 9th onward with his deplorables.

(81,298 posts)He and Chris Christie both! I bet Chris Christie was betting on becoming Attorney General in a Trump administration as his way out of any Bridgegate problems! No wonder he played the loyal fawning manservant so faithfully for awhile there.
I've actually been lurking for years, on and off. I've been reading lots more lately because I needed to be around like-minded people now that my (possibly soon-to-be ex) husband decided that Trump is his choice.
Hopefully Christie will already be incarcerated for Bridgegate by the time Donald's legal problems with this election get underway.

"Mr. Trump, you say you will stop all crime on Day 1. Exactly how will you do that. And how many additional police will you ask Congress to approve the funds to hire? And, please do not talk about giving all the criminal types jobs - because even if you do - that will take many months if not years to materialize."

(43,173 posts)and this is no exception
Trump IS running a campaign to win, he hasn't given up, in his mind
he believes these strategies will be winners - he is doing what he has
done all along as he said he would. There is no deviation from his judgment,
which is of course perfect at all times according to him.
Of course his team has given up, there's no changing him.

I really hope we can grab both houses and get the country back in shape. Please, please, please!
