They really are determined to see to it that their one remotely electable guy leaves the GOP and goes indie.

On Mondays edition of Fox News The Five, the shows more conservative hosts went after New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for his appearance this past weekend on Saturday Night Live while his home state continues to suffer the effects of Hurricane Sandy.
Co-host Eric Bolling began the segment decrying RINOs (Republicans In Name Only). He specifically targeted Christie, who acted like a Democrat with his slobbering wet kiss to Obama days before the election in addition to his recent appearance on SNL while Jersey suffers from power outages, destroyed homes, and massive job losses.
The show then rolled side-by-side the clip of Christie appearing on SNLs Weekend Update segment with aerial footage of Hurricane Sandys destruction in Jersey. Bolling noted that this editorialized video was his idea.
Co-host Dana Perino agreed that Christies appearance was too soon given the ongoing relief effort in parts of New Jersey. I think I would have turned them down a few more weeks, she said. I dont want to be a fuddy-duddy, but i would have put it off a couple of weeks.

(135,425 posts)He poked fun at himself in a very positive fashion, he showed viewers that he wasn't too sensitive to take a joke, and he related very well to the studio and home audience.
That appearance was a winner for him in all respects. Anyone within the GOP political circle who is crabbing about it will be a footnote within four years, if they're even remembered. He'll prevail.
That is a bit concerning to me, I must say. I'd prefer it if he were a totally unlikeable dickweed, but that's not the case. He is a very "relate-able" kind of guy.
Perhaps the people at Faux Snooze aren't aware of the distance between NJ and NY...it's not like he was going to the moon. But then, they are like the kids who slept through all the subjects at school; why are we surprised when geography stumps that little band? Wasn't Dana Perino the one who had some confusion, while working at the WH as Bush's flak, with 20th Century Cuban-American history?

He's trying to turn his image around in the public eye away from the constant bully (which seems to be a hit with the TeaPotty and their ilk). Although I have to admit, his video with Cory Booker was funny at the time as well.
But, when it gets down to serious policy stuff, he will have a harder time defending his actions. Just today it was mentioned how he is pushing to close down the police department in Camden. In between the mix is a police union that will be busted if Christie gets his way. One more notch on his serious war (belt) on unions in NJ. Here's one article on the subject: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/19/chris-christie-camden-police_n_2025372.html
I recognize that he is a good sense of humor kind of dude, but his policies suck.
