Michael Moore once denounced Hillary because of her Iraq war vote. But now he's one of her most vocal supporters. And he explains why in his new movie, "Michael Moore in Trumpland."

Michael Moore has unveiled Michael Moore in TrumpLand, a surprise film he screened for the first time at New York Citys IFC Center on Tuesday night for free. The 73-minute film will begin its theatrical run on Wednesday at the IFC Center (for one week only) and Los Angeles' Laemmle Town Center 5 in Encino.

In the film, Moore notes that white men over 35 are obsolete in the 21st century (Guys know it and that's why they're at the Trump rallies, he says) and that women are not inherently problematic: No women invented a hydrogen or atomic bomb, and no girls have gone into schools to shoot them up.
We're actually quite safe from 51 percent of the population, he explains. Whatever you're afraid of does not wear a dress or a pantsuit.
The movie also includes an imagined news segment that covers what would happen if Trump is inaugurated: aerial attacks on Mexican border towns, an official TV news channel operated by Breitbart and Roger Ailes, and the deportation of Rosie O'Donnell to the American Samoa. Afterward, the filmmaker discusses Clinton with the audience, playing a segment of her impassioned Wellesley commencement speech and supposing that, as Pope Francis did to the Catholic Church, Clinton can stimulate progress that benefits the greater good of the country. The enemy of my enemy is who Im voting for on Nov. 8, he says in the film.

Moore, who himself has never before voted for Clinton, explained that he made TrumpLand because Democrats should not strategize for Clintons victory by solely scaring people off Trump. Its too risky for me. Im gonna do something here and give people positive reasons to vote for her, he said after the screening. Look for the good in Hillary. Im not saying forget the bad, but theres a lot of good there.
Thanks pnwmom.

(108,978 posts)But in another interview about the debates he compared her to Jesus..
Jesus could have made email mistakes, too.

Two days later and I still can't get over why a woman was forced to share a stage with a sexual predator psychopath and suffer his abuse.

Politicians claim to be "Christian" & are anything but. Last night we witnessed a woman who practiced what she believes #HowWouldJesusDebate
Michael Moore ?@MMFlint Oct 10
Trump stalked & intimidated her around the stage, nonstop lied about her 2 her face--& she simply answered the questions the town hall asked
Michael Moore ?@MMFlint Oct 10
Trump called her the devil, said he'd jail her, brought w/ him women who say they slept w/ her husband--& she still kept her grace & cool.'

The media keeps saying the debate was "ugly" and "mudslinging." Wrong. Only one candidate hurled hate and lies and scum. The other was kind.

Trump's comment that Hillary's "heart is filled with hate" was one of his biggest lies. Say what u will, I think her heart is full of love.

(58,785 posts)earlier lies and distortions about her in my mind, but hopefully it will make a bigger difference in the minds of others.
The one I hope most people who aren't about to suddenly see her as an angel are exposed to is, Look for the good in Hillary. Im not saying forget the bad, but theres a lot of good there.
It's probably too late, and most conservative wobblers aren't listening to Moore, but just imagine what it would mean if just 10% more people came to believe that?

(21,056 posts)When I posted these the day after he made them, many people were astounded and he got plenty of recs for his uniting words. Still, some don't like him, but they're being way too harsh, but meh, you can't please everyone. Mr Moore is and has been one of the greatest political/issue documentary makers for 20 years. We owe him a debt of gratitude!
I can't wait to see this film! I'm sure it's got a great message, and thanks for the synopsis.

(1,832 posts)We have to share the blame in this world, and not build more of those wrong stereotypes. Michael Moore claims that no women invented a hydrogen or atomic bomb, and no girls have gone into schools to shoot them up.
We're actually quite safe from 51 percent of the population.
Sorry girls - there is a quite recent example of a female School shooter, and lists of many more. And here is a list of female scientists, who helped invent hydrogen and atomic bombs at the Manhattan Project. Michael Moore is a very good storyteller, but has little interest in checking his own "facts", which makes it all too easy to criticize his well intended work.
