I'm of a born-again branch, and to be born again into a new life (one where we do not have the sins of our past) we must first CONFESS those sins and ASK FORGIVENESS. For me, someone who has never asked forgiveness for his sins, even if they're not born again, really isn't following the teachings of Christ.
