Involvement in civic affairs, ie voting, is a good thing, no matter which side you're on.

Here is California I have voted in the same location for almost 30 years. the only time I waited to vote was for Bill Clinton's 1st election and then it was a matter of minutes, maybe 2. California has so many voting locations including peoples living rooms.

I am truly perplexed and why other states are so dysfunctional.

Republican governors & legislatures deliberately reduce hours and keep the number of poll workers and voting machines too low in urban areas in the hopes that some (mostly Democratic) voters will decide it's not worth waiting and won't vote.

In 2012 Republicans in Florida put a bunch of deliberately confusing referendums on the ballot just to slow the process even more. My brother waited almost 2 hours to vote, and would have probably given up if my Mom hadn't called every few minutes to make sure he hadn't.

In New York I have never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes, in the city or the suburbs. Usually there is no wait at all.

I fear Democrats are walking into a trap demanding that Trump accept the election results. It will be used against them if there are legitimate reasons to file legal challenges post-election.

It makes so much sense. This is bullshit having to stand in line for hours. It's discriminatory and handicaps the process in so many ways.
As far as I know, only 3 states have vote by mail: Colorado, Oregon and Washington State.

I tried to get people here in Florida to vote by mail. Granted, they have been primarily African Americans and Latino/Latina, but they want to go to the polls. I think there's a certain pride in actually going to the polls and voting, but there's also a fear of not having their votes counted if it's mailed in.

I must admit that I have reservations about voting by mail in a Republican run state and will early vote rather than mailing in a ballot.

They would have to request an absentee ballot but that's very simple and could be done in five minues. Obviously a lot of people prefer not to.

I talked to friends who had waited in long lines yesterday, so I knew to pick a less crowded location off the beaten path today since we can go to any one of 16 sites in Buncombe Co.

Some more populous counties though do not have as many sites available, but fortunately the court ruled against the Repubs plan to severely cut back the days of early voting statewide and with voter ID- or else all of us would have been waiting in long lines

but I did find out today that you can request an absentee ballot without having to provide a reason for the request.

I voted this morning in the smallest county in NC and had no wait at all. More voters were coming in as I was leaving, but not enough to make much of a line, I think.

That too is part of the plan to disenfranchise Black, Hispanic and elderly voters who turned out in large numbers for early voting in 2008, 2010 and 2012.

The GOP have done everything they can to limit voting options and access to voting sites. They reduced the number of voting sites as a whole and relocated a number of them further from neighborhoods that have voted Democrat. They have reduced staffing and made it harder to distribute ballots to those sites. They even removed the straight party ticket voting selection from the ballot forms so that anyone voting must now select every single candidate one at a time. This may not sound inconvenient to some of you but in NC there are quite a few choices to be made and marked on the ballot. The party allegiance of some of the candidates can be lost in the process of working through the ballot form. It's nearly impossible without some kind of list in hand as you vote.

With a GOP reconstituted state board of elections overseeing the vote in Raleigh there are very well founded concerns about the potential for tampering with the final counts at the tabulator level.
