Oh boy! I am an emotional mess. I need to see it again. Sometimes truth is difficult.
As always, my best.
A tearful:
"Would my son have a place in your America?"
I cannot get beyond that. Nor should anybody.

(5,106 posts)She appreciates these people: the Khan family's loss and their son's sacrifice. I can't imagine her, say...accepting a purple heart from someone who'd really earned it. I've always wondered if the man (Mr. Dorfman?) who gave Trump his purple heart voted for John Kerry. Somehow I doubt it.
sarge43
(28,941 posts)I won't be surprised that Dorfman? was one of those scumbags who wore Purple Heart band aids at the 04 Repub convention.
The Repubs are whining and whinging about Trump ruining the party. No Puddin's, it was ruined a long time ago; Trump is just the scum rising to the top.

(81,267 posts)I bet she invites all those folks she's met. All those we saw onstage at the Democratic Convention. The Khans. The brave mothers of fallen young blacks. So many people whose stories gripped our hearts - through their struggles, pain, suffering, and sacrifice. It wouldn't surprise me to see many, or all, of those folks. And the little girls - the one who confidently spoke at the convention and the little one fearful of her parents being deported whom Hillary met on a campaign stop.
I hope many or all of them get to go! To view an inauguration is profound and stunningly stupendous, just anyway! But when you have a chance to watch history being made? I have another "st" word - STAGGERING. Our son was a presidential scholar in high school and earned a trip to Washington DC to witness the first inauguration of the First Black President of the United States. It's a moment he will NEVER forget, and I'm so glad he was already becoming aware of the larger world and politics by then, so he WILL remember it when he's much older. Man, he came back with stories! He wanted to make sure I knew that he and his student group were also near the area where dubya and Laura Bush left Washington by helicopter that same day, and the nearby crowd broke into a group sing of "Na-na-na-na, Na-na-na-na, HEY-hey-hey, Gooo-oood BYE!" I remember him calling me to report that moment, specifically!
I hope all those people get to go. All of them!

(3,702 posts)And that she will maintain in contact with this family for years - whether she wins or loses.
The stories of how she has kept in touch with people for decades after meeting them while campaigning or in office just astounds me. And she shows up at important moments in their lives - without a press corps.
Usually an ad like this would make me mad - worried that the pain of someone is being exploited for politics. But not this one, not the Khans.
I know deep in my heart that Hillary will continue to do right by this family as long as she can.

(15,286 posts)It's very powerful, but Clinton's camp also has one from a Republican mom with an autistic son who says there's no place in "Trumpworld" for her son and that's why she's voting for Hillary.
The absolute best ad I've seen is the one with Judy Shepard telling the story of her son Matthew's death from nothing more than hate and bigotry.

(833 posts)are so powerful, but I can't think it's not the last of its kind we'll see. What harder blows to the creep's minuscule chances could yet come? Something by a group of the women he's assaulted? Mrs. Clinton does seem to need a boost with upper-class women, and that might just give it to her. I think she's trying for such a massive win that the Senate will go blue, or at least 50-50--which, with Kaine in the big chair would give dems a functional majority. And a crushing defeat would make the creep's whining about a rigged election that much less credible. There will be more powerful ads, and they will come in a crescendo.

(3,839 posts)ads are that, but damn, that was a great piece of propaganda for Hillary Clinton. Gave me chills and that's what good propaganda should do. . .invoke an intense emotional response.
