OT, misogynistic makeup question...

Is it a new thing to use dark under-eyeliner these days?

Hallie Jackson has been doing that, and it makes her look tired or something, to me.

Thankfully, she seems to be on her game, was just wondering about the makeup. Seems to enhance the "bags under the eyes" look.

and doesn't have a good concealer. I've noticed several people surrounding the campaigns who look exhausted lately.

Dark eyeliner on the lower lid should make the eyes pop, not give them a bags under the eyes look (unless it somehow smears). Shadow under the eye would do that, but I can't imagine anyone doing that on purpose.

I am not a cosmetologist though, just a old lady who's played with makeup a lot through the years.

much more dramatic to show up. None of the on air people wear a natural makeup look like we'd wear in our daily lives (not even the men). Usually makeup pros adjust for lighting though. I'm not a huge fan of dark eyeliner on the bottom myself but some can carry it off.

just, Hallie didn't used to have that look that I remember. Today, she has really dark unliner and large lashes.

But it's an outdoor shot, and that will affect it, of course.
