(9,771 posts)I don't know if he's crazier than Trump, but he does have an even bigger ego. I know, hard to believe, but it's true.

(83,793 posts)Yet, I will give him and his family something here. His wife has fought stage 2 skin cancer for years. He has throat cancer and son, anorexia. Daughter hearing loss in HS. Violin story, he had to sell his Medfield house at a huge loss because of the cancer, IDTS. He sold low because of the 75 million video deal that failed in RI at the expense of taxpayers.
Trust me, I hate the man yet we are better than the GOP.

(83,793 posts)about 10 years ago I lived, one town over from him. When he went full out Bush he pissed a lot of people off especially when he was a Red Sox member. He should have kept his politics out of the game.
I feel for his family. I know his wife Shonda fought stage 2 melanoma. She became an advocate for skin cancer awareness. I remember pics of her in a loose fitting white shirt as a cover against the sun. I hate the man yet I applaud her.
I will say, no family deserves this. If he runs I will go after him relentlessly, I do not like him or his politics, I would never touch the family.

Schilling sounds exactly like all the guys I meet in the Las Vegas sportsbook scene. Exactly. It startled me upon arrival in the mid '80s but I assigned it to one block, the guys there at the time. I didn't become concerned until waves of newcomers shared the identical themes. Primarily in their 20s, all white, and plurality from the South.
I started calling them SAM or Simplistic Angry Male. Of course, I didn't tell them what it stood for. But I'd ask a new guy with all the familiar angles, "Your name is SAM, right?" One buddy of mine would laugh. He knew the code.
Bill Maher nailed it last weekend on Fareed Zakaria. There are far more of them than either of us realized. That was my astonishment from the Republican primaries. Double your pleasure, double your fun, double your SAMs.
SAMs can actually be elected, given proper geography and situational tide. That was my expressed concern to Chris Bowers on MyDD a decade ago. He started the push to cleanse the party by nominating true liberals and not blue moderates. Quite admirable but he was ignoring the big picture. Once both sides swing from their most partisan core it's inevitably going to elect far more absolute wingnuts in high position than true blue progressives. That's a given considering that 10-11% more people self-identify as conservatives than liberal. I'm still shaking from Ted Cruz' legitimate hopes to attain the GOP nomination.
