Any eye witness accounts of what is going on on in person? If you are a minority, are any poll workers or election observers giving people a hard time?

(2,056 posts)I'll be able to see how it goes at my polling location, though, because my patio literally overlooks the parking lot of the library.
My county is actually one that is slightly more Republican than Democratic...so I guess you could say that I'm in a battleground county in a battleground state.

(30,481 posts)We are the mean people just to the south that make fun of Pasco residents. I actually go to Pasco a couple of times a month. Family.
Unknown to most, Pasco has one of the best mental health programs in the country. Sounds strange but it's true.

(2,056 posts)So Hillsborough county is just south of me. You must be closer to the coast.

I intentionally picked the busiest site in the county, the related website indicating a 45 minute wait. I wanted to get a feel for tension and animosity in line, referenced by a front page article in the Miami Herald today. By the time I headed there it was down to 15 minutes. That seemed like enough of a sample.
The parking lot was jammed. I had to loop twice, along with many other cars. The pamphlet distributors for various campaigns were surprisingly aggressive. They were approaching our cars before we found a spot. Then they rushed after us as soon as we opened the door. I'd say there were at least 35 people handing out those flyers. When I waved a woman off, showing her my sample ballot and saying I had all the information I needed, she was unhappy and instantly sarcastic, telling me to, "Have a good day, sir," in both English and Spanish. Emphasis on SIR.
Sigh. There was no line outside. Inside I had perhaps a 2 minute silent wait. Everything went smoothly, other than one woman who handed me my ballot and tried to direct my next steps, but she spoke virtually zero English.
I appreciate that they allowed as much time as needed in the privacy booths. When I voted in Nevada there were often workers lingering nearby so there was more of an impression to keep it moving, even though it wasn't stated.
The ballot is two pages, front and back of each. That doesn't seem ideal, as opposed to front only. They did have a sign on entry indicating to check both sides of the page, and a polling place worker was also saying that loudly to us as we entered the building. The second page is primarily ballot measures and not head-to-head races.
It was busy but not as crowded as the parking lot suggested. More than half the privacy booths were empty as I departed. The woman who helped me scan the pages said it was packed an hour earlier, that I picked a good time.
In filling out the ovals I found it easier to outline them once or twice before filling in the outline.
I nearly forgot to mention that I wore blue head to toe, including a visor.

(39,343 posts)The workers were pushing through a lot of voters (which is what we want).

(34,138 posts)In fact I ran into a Democratic acquaintance I haven't seen in at least eight years and got to meet some other strong Clinton supporters.
The wait to get in was very short, not one Trump supporter visible, no Republican poll watchers visible.
I was a little surprised since the early voting location was just a couple of miles from where Trump was appearing later yesterday. In fact traffic was held up on the way to the poll since a Trump campaign was held up at the gate and blocking traffic.
I was also surprised to look at the stats from yesterday and voting totals at the same location were lower than the first day of early voting. I would have thought at least a few of the Trump supporters might have stopped and voted on the was to the rally. But the Democratic votes were still more than twice the numbers of the Republican votes!
